Freshwater Larviciding

Freshwater Larviciding is the most cost effective and efficient means of controlling the mosquito population by using minimally invasive products. With that being said, the window to effectively larvicide happens in spring while inspecting woodland pools and impoundments from winter runoff. The majority of these areas largely dry up in the summer months, leaving man made container and artificial breeding sites more of a problem. Larviciding is the application of an insecticide to salt or fresh water pools to control mosquitos in their aquatic, larval stages, and prevent adult mosquitos. This is also done throughout the summer, by requests of residents or local Boards of Health.

See our list of larvicides for details on the products.
